Summary To identify political, economic, and cultural factors for a given country, extract lessons learned, and suggest strategies to promote international collaboration and effectively deal with future outbreaks (deliberate and otherwise). Cases include: Egypt (Naval Area Medical Research Unit No. Three or NAMRU-3), Kenya (United States Army Medical Research Unit or USAMRU-K), Peru (Naval Medical Research Center Detachment or NMRCD), and the US-Mexican Border (early Warning Infectious Disease Surveillance or EWIDS).
