Summary |
The issues that will be addressed in this research include: - What is the effectiveness of using VMIFF as a MWIR signaling tool to enhance situational awareness? Evaluate VMIFF from both fixed wing and UAV platforms both day and night, working in conjunction with Marine Corps DC Aviation at MAWTS Yuma. Integrate VMIFF with close air support (CAS scenarios) with TACP ground control. - What would be the value and optimum range/footprint of a dismounted version of VMIFF? Discuss feasibility and design parameters with operational units and then evaluate a prototype design for reduced footprint and power consumption and determine initial design parameters. Perform laboratory experiments to verify design predictions. - Demonstrate and evaluate field programmable nature of VMIFF for operational security. |
