Summary This project has three key facets:
a) Exploration of Problem Space - How can we use gaming technologies and validated scenarios to explore capabilities? These may span from equipment that does not yet exist (what effect would small, very low cost, easy to replace robotic mules have on resupply?), enhanced capabilities of existing equipment (what if this vehicle had 30% greater range?), new procedures or doctrine (what if we changed how we employ reconnaissance patrols?), organization (what if we equipped reconnaissance patrols differently with more robotic vehicles?), and training (For all of the above, what are the training implications for Soldiers - What do they need to know how to do to make that effective?)
b)Data Collection - Games (like VBS2 - Virtual Battlespace 2) are designed to create virtual experiences, not to capture performance outcomes like what we need here. What does the "data" look like that should be measured to determine what the effect (positive or negative) was for a particular permutation or configuration?
c)Assessment and Analysis - This is the primary objective of the program. We want data driven assessment and recommendations that can be used to influence or inform.
