Summary | To improve Advanced Refractive Effects Prediction System (AREPS) EM performance predictions through improved characterization of environmental impacts on EM propagation. This will be accomplished by: 1) Incorporating the new NPS vertical refractivity profile blending algorithm into AREPS, 2) Incorporating a new NAVSLaM model version with improved performance in stable conditions into AREPS, 3) Developing new and vastly improved EM ducting climatology datasets and climate analysis methods specifically for use and deployment with AREPS, and 4) Ensuring the proper use of high-resolution COAMPS data within AREPS, particularly in regards to characterization of surface-layer refractivity profiles and range and bearing dependent refractivity fields. |
