Summary | Microgrids are being evaluated for use in Navy facilities to reduce cost of renewable energy and energy storage integration. Current microgrid topologies are cost inefficient, requiring multiple application-specific converter designs. Solid state transformers (SSTs) offer a cost-effective solution for microgrid implementation. We propose to investigate the implementation of a SST design for a microgrid investigation currently underway at Port Hueneme. |
