NPS will provide technical research, component recommendation, and testing in support of the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab's (MCWL) Company and Below Wireless Network Infrastructure and Management (WNIM) project. Additionally, NPS will assist MCWL in conducting testing during the WNIM Limited Technology Assessments (LTAs).
The goal of the MCWL's WNIM project is to provide warfighters at the company level and below a robust, secure wireless voice and data system to support Distributed Operations (DO).
In this initiative, NPS will serve as subject matter experts (SME) for the WNIM project, focusing its efforts on the research of secure wireless network management and wireless network security technologies. Additionally, NPS will research potential CONOPS for employment of tactical cellular and wireless technologies in support of DO. NPS will also serve as SME in support concurrent research conducted by Space and Naval Warfare System Command-San Diego (SSC-SD) in the research of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren in the research of mobile cellular communications.
