Summary The objective of this project is to analyze the complexity of the interactions between the options of the IPSec protocol and the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) such that security-related configuration errors can be minimized and to determine the feasibility or advisability of using SNMP to manage IPSec policies within a large enterprise. This project will determine whether SNMP should be used to remotely manage IPSec policies within large Enterprises; to include warnings (related to possible mis-configuration) and, when its use is dangerous, recommendations for transitioning to an alternative policy distribution mechanism.
