Summary | As highlighted in two recent initiatives, the "Design to Maintain Maritime Superiority" and "Sailor 2025", one of the Navy's priorities is to increase its efforts to better identify, promote and retain the most talented, highest quality personnel. This proposed work aims to continue our good work from FY16, which focused on STEM college majors as a potential indictor of quality. We propose to examine a larger set of abilities, traits and aptitudes - many identified as potential markers of quality from our FY16 interviews- in order to obtain a working definition of quality. We will then examine how well these abilities and traits predict the highest performers, what mechanisms improve performance of high quality personnel, and formulate actionable recommendations to directly support Navy's talent management efforts. |
