Summary |
The research idea is motivated from the current lack of communication capabilities observed by Marines while in a tactical/field environment. A cell phone has the capability to send and receive real time voice communications, voice messaging, text messaging, email, capture videos/pictures, in addition to a long list of other features. However, the cost of this technology in a field environment rationally is too heavily weighted toward permanent infrastructure or other non-cost efficient solutions. This research will explore the idea of wirelessly connecting smart phones to a Marines Corps tactical radio network. The purpose of the research will be to explore the possible solutions and illustrate each option with associated costs. |
