Summary |
The Integrated Air and Missile Defense mission relies on technical expertise from many disciplines, including: sensors (radar and electro-optic), missiles, spacecraft control, guidance and navigation, command and control, battle management, meteorology, defense analysis. NPS has world renowned experts in each field, serving as instructors and researchers within their area of expertise. However, NPS lacks an individual who views the IAMD mission as a system-of-systems, who understands the interrelations, and can pull a common string to coordinate efforts across the disparate subjects. This position will not reside in any one academic department, but instead serve as the link to tie all the related course material and research together. In broad terms, the duties are to facilitate internal and external communication, relevant research, and strategic alignment. |
