Summary | The DASD Rapid Fielding (RF) mission is to identify, develop, demonstrate, assess & rapidly field innovative concepts and technologies that supply critical capabilities to meet time-sensitive operational needs. The Joint Capability Technology Demonstrations (JCTD) program exploits mature and maturing technologies, introduces operational concepts to solve important military problems, and facilitates transition from development to deployment. The JCTD MMOWGLI game is intended to support collaborative determination of project possibilities and analysis of alternatives (AoA) between joint forces, industry, and international partners, all in support of operational requirements confirmed by one or more Combatant Commands (COCOMs). The Massive Multiplayer Online War Game Leveraging the Internet (MMOWGLI) is a Web-based idea-exploration game that encourages innovative thinking about some of the world's most wicked problems. MMOWGLI is designed to support large number of distributed global players working together on idea generation and action planning, with an eye towards surfacing innovative outlier strategies. For near-term JCTD challenges facing COCOMs and operational forces, the Department of Defense (DoD) needs to better understand partnership opportunities and identify effective paths forward when deploying new technologies. Broad collaboration using MMOWGLI to conduct brainstorming of new ideas and generating action-plan alternatives is expected to be essential for charting the way ahead for one or more major JCTD initiatives. This project is being pursued in partnership and with partial matching support by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). |
