Summary | The objective of this project is to create physics based models of the power converter DC/DC and DC/AC modules (PCMs) used in electric and hybrid ships. These models will include CM and DM circuits and paths as created by parasitic components that exist at high frequency such at the switching frequency typical of integrated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT) - based converters. Navy officers pursuing their MSEE degrees at NPS will contribute to this research, thus developing expertise on CM modeling for power converters, a critical skill when designing PCMs for shipboard applications, where CM circulating currents must be identified and suppressed. |
