Summary Command and control (C2) present a risk to operators in an EABO EMCON environment, where radio frequency (RF) transmission can create a geolocation footprint that highlights a unit's or uncrewed system's (UxS) position. The need for C2 is further challenged by the fact that proprietary security protocols inhibit effective Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO) and legacy C2 protocols incur high synchronicity and therefore RF footprint. The space is further complicated by the need to send data from the UxS to handlers to be of use. Full autonomy in UxS operation offers a possible solution to the C2 communication challenge but comes at the cost of battlefield awareness. This project looks at measures to optimize between autonomy and C2 for UxS, while maintaining security and enhancing interoperability in DMO.
