Summary The work to be undertaken under this project will be a new effort to provide support to the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) on supply chain management, process improvement, and financial management related issues. The specific topics are developed by mutual agreement of NAVSUP staff and Professor Geraldo Ferrer.
It is expected that the topics will demand a variety of archival research methods, normally used by management faculty. Other archival methods are more likely found in operations research or information technology groups. The sequencing of the tasks will be decided based on discussions between Naval Supply Systems Command staff and the principal investigator. The project team will include other NPS faculty and NPS students as appropriate. During the course of the program the principal investigator will maintain on-going contact with Naval Supply Systems Command staff. The annual funding of $100k will provide the support for the project team to complete 3-5 deliverables per academic year, in the form of student thesis or MBA projects, in the form of oral presentations to NAVSUP staff and written reports.
