Summary | The objective of the proposed program is to develop an acoustic direction finding (DF) system for sniper fire detection based on a recently developed MEMS directional microphone that mimics the ears of the fly Ormia ochracea. The resonant excitation employed in the detection enhances the SIN compared to omni-directional microphones used in current DF systems. This translates into enhanced direction finding accuracy. |
