Summary | Existing, fielded and developmental unmanned airborne systems (UAS) have traditionally been used primarily in land based activities supporting the Global War on Terror and Overseas Contingency Operations. Recent design changes in some UAS have improved their capabilities in maritime-based operations specifically related to the unique requirements for launch, use and recovery. However, concepts of operation (CONOPS) for use of these systems in various maritime based operational situations need to be explored and defined. |
