Summary | Numerous efforts to upgrade the 4K capabilities of NUWC Newport Division (herein called NUWC) are underway. There is a requirement to have a scalable, tiled display and rendering cluster running the Scalable Adaptive Graphics Environment (SAGE) middleware incorporated into the NUWC Integrated Display Center and Virtual Studio. This integration requires coordination with existing contractors, and with the CineGrid and SAGE OptiPuter communities, so that the hardware and software are compatible to meet the needs of the NUWC customer and are harmonious with current and future project partners' technology mix. Furthermore, in complimentary support of partnership agreements between NPS and NUWC to build an Ul1ra-high Performance Virtual Studio (UHPVS), it is expected that supporting projects and improvements will be integrated into the baseline capabilities established herein, as well as upgrades required to maintain functionality across the partnership. This effort requires on-going coordination, hardware and software support, as well as knowledge of CineGrid research community developments for eventual technology transfer. |
