Summary | Conduct numerical simulations of the oceanic meso-and large-scale variability in the mid-latitude Atlantic and in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. The main goal of this modeling effort is to explain the role of the mesoscale eddies, their transfer properties and interaction with larger scales. Properties of the ocean thermal fronts and eddies determine the Undersea Warfare (USW) tactics in the areas of high mesoscale activity, and therefore our efforts to predict its distribution and strength are directly related to the Navy research interests in general and to the interests of the Oceanography Department of NPS in particular. |
