Summary The NPS will perform data extraction and file documentation from databases that have an estimated total of over two million individuals with demographic and deployment variables required for the analyses. This data will be merged with VA screening and utilization data. VA lacks deployment and other military demographics (rank, service, whether separated from the military), which are important factors for VA to understand patients' responses to VA programs designed to help military deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. NPS is also participating in the analyses and writing of papers from these datasets. Knowledge of military policies affecting treatment of injured military personnel is an important aspect of the VA grant. All work by NPS's staff will be conducted at NPS facilities and delivered to the project team by telephone conference calls and electronic mail.
