Summary This event supports delivery of CCMR Peacekeeping program USPACOM United Nations Logistics Course (UNLOC) to members of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and a select number of international military officers. This course/event (MASL 279379) is regularly conducted, on an annual basis, by CCMR throughout the Asia-Pacific area. This training was coordinated and agreed upon bilaterally by the US and Sri Lankan governments during the Bilateral Defense Discussions.
If this course does not occur it would diminish Sri Lanka's capacity to train and deploy UN logistics qualified peacekeepers into United Nations peacekeeping missions and nationally train officers at the Sri Lankan peacekeeping training center. This would negatively affect future US-Sri-Lanka peacekeeping cooperation. There is potential that failure to support this training could adversely impact force generation for potential new UN missions or extend already deployed contingent members in place due to inadequate replacements available.
The course is pre-coordinated in detail and supported by the US Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka and United States Pacific Command.
