Summary |
The CORE Lab has applied its skills in analyzing social media, including analyzing social media from the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, mapping the Free Syrian Army, mapping the social media conversation about Ukraine for NATO, and analyzing ISIS's social media campaign. These different projects have resulted in numerous papers and presentations, culminating with the publication of the Social Media Exploitation: An Assessment report for the OSD Rapid Reaction Technology Office. As part of expanding this research, the CORE Lab will use M3S in order to conduct research on social media, provide feedback for M3S, and help develop social media educational products. The ultimate goal is to research social media with respect to benefitting the Department of Defense, then deliver the results to the warfighter, who benefits with a tested approach and benchmark to build upon. The research will consist of three areas of focus; a case study using MS3, feedback to improve the development of MS3, and help create products that will aid in educating the warfighter on how to conduct social media exploitation. |
