Summary Purpose: The purpose of this course is to help develop and extend DCMA's innovation capabilities in service of creating a more effective, efficient, and customer focused organization. The course will be held over 2 days. The course will be conducted by Dr Neal Thornberry, a faculty member in the Center for Executive Education at the Naval Postgraduate School and Ms Anita Salem, faculty member in the Graduate School of Business and Public Policy.
Course Pedagogy and Objectives: This course will involve pre-readings, case studies, lectures and practical exercises and will be highly participative, After this course, participants will be able to
- Understand how to proactively lead the innovation process
- Practice design thinking skills to generate new ideas
- Shape opportunities from ideas
- Develop strategies and tactics for embedding innovation over the long term
- Self-assess on 11 leadership skills that are shown to enhance innovation within the organization
