Summary The Navy currently lacks a comprehensive method of tracking and prioritizing cargo shipped to the sea base. In particular, there is no centralized tracking system to optimize the usage of specialized logistics support aircraft (such as the C-2 Greyhound) and multi-mission aircraft (such as the MH-60R and CH-53) that support the sea base. As the Navy replaces the C-2 Greyhound with a Navy variant of the V-22 Osprey as the Airborne Resupply/Logistics for Seabasing (ARILSB) capability, and transitions from the legacy "hub and spoke" to a "point to point" Concept of Operations, an effective process to optimize each logistics mission becomes a critical enabler. This project aims to study how to improve the overall future AR/LSB system performance by planning and managing logistic missions based on cargo and passenger priorities to achieve the optimal use of the aircraft. The study will also assess the value of near real-time end-to-end tracking of individual cargo items.
