Summary We propose leveraging new social media technologies to our advantage, by using them as a means of data collection, through which to map the "information space" of the human domain. More specifically, we will use newly developed tools for geo-coding the sending locations of individual messages sent through the Twitter network, and for automated estimations of the rates at which different words are utilized in those messages. Then, using statistical techniques for spatial interpolation, we will use these word counts to generate analyses and visualizations which allow for enhanced situational awareness of the dynamics of popular mobilization and radicalization.
