Summary | The proposed research effort will design immersive virtual reality (VR) training system in support of cockpit and procedure familiarization. The system will aim to use commercial off-the-shelf system (both hardware and software) to create an affordable, light weight, mobile training system focused on filling the gap identified in aviation training – its ultimate goal is to provide more effective alternative to current training practices that are solely based on passive study of manuals and review of a series of slides with minimal user interaction. The proposed training system will be also tested against current training practices through the means of a formal user study. Research grant is designed to support student travel (field study, user study, conference travel) and needs for experimental testbed environment. |
