Summary | Engineering Resilient Systems (ERS) is a new approach to developing sustainable, leap ahead technologies in support of warfighters and support systems. It is predicted upon the idea that simulation is the best way to explore high dimensional design spaces to look for approaches to problems that may not be along the sustaining path of the current technology. This involves simulation architectures that are highly reconfigurable and adaptive that allow for maximal exploration of a large number of design permutations while also facilitating flexibility in developing performance metrics while considering costs and lifecycle. Unfortunately, no such simulation framework or architecture exists today, yet recent research has shown that technical barriers to achieve this end have been crossed. The Engineering Research and Development Center is the lead organization in developing the ERS concept. This statement of work will describe simulation support tasks to be accomplished by the MOVES Institute's engineering staff in support of ERDC. |
