Summary This research aims to improve the development and analysis of architecture models throughout PEO U&W based on Generic Model guidance published by the Architecture Modeling for Systems Engineering Working Group (AMSEWG) at NAVAIR. The reproducibility of Generic Model templates will be tested in tools other than Rational Software Architect (RSA), the native tool in which the Generic Model was developed. Specifically, Generic Model templates will be reproduced in Innoslate and Monterey Phoenix (MP) Analyzer tools. The results of these tests are expected to produce new and enhance existing patterns and/or templates with style guidance for the most critical and useful model views, and inform the continued evolution of Generic Model guidance with state of the art techniques from the architecture modeling research community. Chief among these techniques is that of executable architecture modeling, which tests the logic and completeness of static architecture models. The research will culminate in methodological findings and recommendations for extending the Generic Model guidance to accommodate executable architecture modeling. Follow on work may include automation such as the development of a compiler to translate behaviors models developed in RSA into Innoslate and/or Monterey Phoenix to facilitate executable simulations of the RSA models.
