Summary | The NPS MOVES curriculum provides professional technical education to military students, particularly US Navy and US Marine Corps students, in all facets of modeling and simulation (M&S). Together with the NPS MOVES Institute research organization, the curriculum provides research opportunities addressing current operational challenges across the services and Department of Defense. M&S is a rapidly changing field, influenced by changes in operational requirements across multiple domains (training, analysis, experimentation, planning, etc.) as well as the evolving science in the underlying disciplines of computer science, information systems, and operations research. Maintaining currency and agility in the M&S curriculum and research topics is essential to meeting needs of the students and their sponsoring organizations. Agility in M&S education and research demands ongoing evaluation and assessment of instructional materials and delivery. This goal is in line with sponsor desires and NPS strategic focus on curriculum refinement and modernized instructional methods. The objective of this project is to review MOVES curriculum content and course sequence to ensure relevance, currency, efficiency, and effectiveness. A supporting objective is to identify critical research areas in progress and yet to be initiated that support evolution of the curriculum content and structure. |
