Summary	HF Communications has lagged in both technology advancement and usage over the past 40 years. Commanders are realizing that during times of degraded/denied satellite operations, that HF Comms will be the primary means of communications with fleet forces. Improvements in technology are underway and need to be researched and tested in operational environments. The NORTH Joint Capabilities Technology Demonstration (JCTD) is a step in that direction. We expect to find the level of technology maturity and military utility that the new technologies associated with this program brings. The ability to expeditiously put successfully tested technology into the fleet is a potential win for the Department of Defense and United States Naval Service.
