Summary The Navy contracts out surface ship maintenance availabilities to commercial shipyards in several regions around the country. Many major maintenance availabilities require the ship to dock in a drydock, but the capacity and capability of commercial drydocks has been identified as a significant reason for schedule delay. This project will improve the drydock schedule optimization model developed in a previous effort, which computes an executable maintenance schedule to maximize the number of scheduled availabilities while minimizing total schedule shift. The improved tool will help the Navy evaluate different mitigation strategies to improve on-time delivery of maintenance availabilities.
