Summary A fundamental premise of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is, system engineering data can be developed in the best MBSE tool to model that portion of system, and that this data will be easily exchanged with other MBSE tools. In reality, data from disparate MBSE tools, and modeling languages cannot be easily exchanged and used by other tools. Using or combining data from different model-based tools in a MBSE environment requires more than just a data exchange standard (e.g .xml) to data between tools. Physically exchanging data between two tools is possible now, but once the data is physically exchanged, the utility of that data is often lost due to the tools application of data being incompatible. I addition to the exchange standard, a mapping of how data from different system models are related is required. During the FY22 NRP project, an ontology and conceptual data model was developed to serve as a 'Rosetta Stone' to identify areas data exchange standards are needed. This research furthers the FY22 project by identifying and evaluating alternatives through an exploration of approaches that represent the complex knowledge about entities, the relationships between entities, and additional information needed to exchange data that will provide a more holistic and comprehensive view of the system to enable better decisions.
