Summary We will develop a case study related to resource considerations and energy strategy for OA4333: Simulation Analysis. The Future Energy Resource Needs Simulator (FERNS) will use a framework initially developed to anticipate future needs for the armed forces, based on the idea that we cannot know what specific incidents will occur and when. but history tells us we'll have a mixture of trigger events such as border incidents, etc. which have had consistent rates of occurrence during the past several decades. Similarly. data regarding improvements in energy efficiency and the development of new energy supplies are available. Of interest to E20 are the insights such a model may provide as it matches the needs to the availability of energy and related resources over time. In OA4333, FERNS will exemplify how to assess variability in where there is uncertainty about parameters as well as the inherent stochastic variability. and illustrate how a large-scale simulation experiment can provide better insights about the simulator's key drivers of performance.
