Summary Compile to Combat 24 Hours (C2C24) project design is intended to transform the Navy’s information environment utilizing best practices associated with agile development, big-data analysis and commercial cloud services. This project supports thesis work focused on documenting the design, architecture, implementation, execution and evaluation of this important, influential project.
LT Shaurice Miller USN will build upon years of prior NPS thesis work to document, assess and project how C2C24 can improve long-term tactical C2 capabilities. Participating, documenting and assessing advanced C2 designs can produce broad benefits from applied NPS student thesis research efforts by applying technical and tactical expertise. Documenting design decisions and architectural approaches builds broader understanding of mission-critical tradeoffs, thus improving long-term C2 agility and resilience for Fleet.
The long-term goal of this work is to ensure that Naval officer graduate students continue to apply graduate education benefits in support of critical Navy C2 engineering efforts. Activities include:
a. Continuing participation in C2C24H activities, advising on data and network issues.
b. Document tactical and technical issues in an Information Warfare (IW) masters thesis.
c. Assess data practices and strategies, providing recommendations for long-term benefit.
Of note is that all this work builds on, and contributes to, operational concept development of Network Optional Warfare (NOW). https://wiki.nps.edu/display/NOW/Network+Optional+Warfare
