Summary This proposal is a collaboration between the Naval Postgraduate School, California State University-Monterey Bay (CSUMB), and Hartnell College to develop a short course module for computer security, based on a new, non-digital, customizable card game. The intent of the module is to engage students about computer science while removing barriers associated with using a computer, to improve security literacy, to introduce students to "security thinking," and to introduce students to new career paths related to security and engineering. Using game play, we hope to design novel methods to introduce students to topics typically reserved for advanced computer science majors - despite their wide relevance to the public, in an increasing online world.
