Summary To distract or confuse an enemy Radar system provides a distinct advantage to the warfighter. To do so, and not have the adversary be aware of it, is a force multiplier. The objective of this research is to utilize FPGAs for Electronic Attack (EA) that will manipulate the received pulsed waveforms from a threat emitter. The design of the FPGA is the main focus in this research. The FPGA processor will manipulate the signal such that when it is received by the illuminator it will be compressed to appear as an intended false-target. The algorithm and false target synthesizer is designed in Vivado System Generator for Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that runs as an add-on in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The System Generator environment is configured to coincide directly with the desired FPGA board. The algorithm is verified in Simulink and then downloaded to the FPGA for signal manipulation. The final product is to send a Radar signal to the FPGA, which manipulates the incoming signal and then sends a false target output, which is received and interpreted by the Radar as a realistic return.
