Summary AFRICOM J93 Strategic Communication Division, in conjunction with the Annenberg School of Communication, University of Southern California and the Naval Postgraduate School, will conduct a 3 day Strategic Communications workshop for 40 senior leaders and strategic communications stakeholders from HQ AFRICOM and Components. Event will take place September 26-28 2011 in Stuttgart, Germany.
It is critical that strategic communication considerations are integrated into the planning process. This workshop's goal is to provide senior leaders (0-6 and equivalents), as well as those working in the strategic communication field, the tools necessary to ensure SC is better integrated into all planning efforts and operations. In addition, we wanted to leverage the regional and operational expertise that invitees bring to the table in the working groups and dialogue.
Topics to be covered are Strategic Communication Framework, Effects Based Approach, Elements and Templates, Public Diplomacy Elements, Messages and Images, and Metrics. Other topics could be added.
Participants will be split into 5 working groups to develop a strategic communication plan on topics relevant to U.S. Africa Command. Potential topics are NEO, Humanitarian Assistance, Disaster Relief, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.
The AFRICOM Conference Website will be used for registrations and read-ahead should be uploaded at least 2 weeks in advance.
