Summary For the first time during 2007, the NPS COASTS international field experimentation
team will participate by enhancing the C2 capabilities of the boarding crews while they conduct Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO) against suspected vessels throughout SEACAT's three phases. Increased C2 capabilities will provide greater visibility and connectivity to the boarding party OIC, as well as present biometric reach back to assist in positive/negative identification and possible enrollment of suspected crew in biometric databases. These increased capabilities for the MIO boarding crew will be made possible through Maritime Fly Away Kits (MFLAK)
providing wireless connectivity to time sensitive information and national resources.
Demonstrating these capabilities at SEACAT will assist in development of methodologies and expanding the scope in which these technologies are use in real world operations.
