Summary The focus of this research is to optimally allocate counter-IED military resources to a road network that is subject to attack by IEDs. The resources predominantly include patrol teams that repeatedly examine the road network for IEDs in the process of being emplaced, as well as stationary checkpoints that inspect vehicles for IEDs being transported. The overall effect of this effort is to reduce the fraction of IEDs that ultimately damage Blue logistic traffic using the roads. The supply of each of these resources is limited, so it is important to employ them jointly in a manner that recognizes the efficiency of each one relative to the other.
