Summary | The overall objective of this project is to coordinate and assess research efforts in Counter Directed Energy Warfare (CDEW) for ONR code 35. Serve as ONR Counter Directed Energy program office. High Energy laser systems provide a revolutionary capability to our naval forces by enabling agile speed of light delivery, precision engagements, and multi-purpose applications (hard-kill, sensing, detection, monitoring, and non-lethal engagement). ONR supports basic and applied research in Counter Directed Energy Warfare (CDEW). The goal of the CDEW program is to research Science and technology that will lead to systems that protect and defend naval forces against high-energy-laser and high-power-microwave directed energy weapons. In addition ONR supports Education and training of future scientific and military leaders in these technology areas. |
