Summary | In FY 2011-13, AMD provided funding support to NPS to assess an alternative watchstanding schedule for the US Navy surface fleet. These efforts have included data collection of sleep and cognitive performance of nearly 200 crewmembers on the USS JASON DUNHAM and the USS BENFOLD. The original intent of this effort was to study the 3/9 Alternative Watchbill and compare it with other watchstanding schedules. However, manning and operational constraints have limited our ability to complete this analysis. The current proposal will allow us to continue this effort and will fund a postdoctoral fellowship to continue the assessment that we have undertaken. |
