Summary This educational project will teach NSA and partner federal employees, U.S. service academy cadets and midshipmen, and select ROTC cadets how to use and apply the Naval Postgraduate School's Monterey Phoenix (MP) modeling tool to various cyber and cryptologic -related applications. This program is designed to prepare midshipmen and cadets for an in-person internship or full-time position, having a general goal of creating a skills-based pipeline of MP practitioners for government and industry employers in the national defense and security arenas. During their time in the program, selectees will learn how to use MP, apply MP to real problems, and present their findings to senior leaders at a showcase event. Participants will practice reasoning in programming and ideation, critical thinking, teamwork collaboration, and oral communication of problems, models, and results. Some who present will be ready for immediate hire into an internship or full-time position, and all who present will have the opportunity to continue their involvement by contributing to the MP open source project, coaching new selectees on MP modeling, and/or assisting with research, development, and marketing tasks that will further shape and promote awareness and use of MP.
