Summary An executed MOA dated 28 July 2017, updated 11 Jan 2019, defined the working relationship between OUSD(A&S)/ SDD and NPS. OUSD(A&S)/ SDD agreed to share data, information and documents from the Defense Acquisition Visibility Environment (DAVE) and Acquisition Information Repository (AIR) and Defense Acquisition Information Management Retrieval (DAMIR) with Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in support of NPS research and education with the aim of improving acquisition reporting and uses of the data for acquisition analysis, insight, and decision-making.
The goal of this project is to use the Selected Acquisition reports (SAR) and other OSD data to examine weapons systems development schedules with the goal of identifying the current state and contributing causes of schedule estimating, and suggest ways to more accurately predict weapons system development duration. This study will allow for a more complete identification of the myriad factors that drive the development timelines.
