Summary | It is widely known that a receiver's detection performance is ultimately a function of signal-to-noise (SNR) power ratio. Thus, signal collection and/or detection in dense interference environment (such as co-channel interference in wireless, mobile, and 40 communications) is inherently a difficult problem. This is because the interference adds to the noise power yielding a low signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). For a single receiver, various algorithms in open literature such as successive interference cancelation exist with some success. For a scenario where a number of platforms (e.g. satellites) receive multiple replica of the same signal/s of interest (Sol), it may be possible to form a copy of the Sol despite heavy interferences in each receiver. A current technique called reference-based successive interference cancelation RSIC is being investigated for a multi-receiver scenario with good success. It works by placing a platform where a signal may not be corrupted by interference. This "reference" is used to clean the rest of the heavily interfered signals in the other platforms. However, the key to this is the availability of the initial clean reference signal. In this work, we will NOT assume that a clean reference is available; thus we have a reference-denied multiplatform system. This makes the problem even more difficult. Nonetheless, it will be investigated and shown that the availability of multiple echoes of Sol despite heavy interference will allow for the Sol to collected, fused (signal fusion), enhanced (increase in SINR), detected, and demodulated with high probability of success. |
