Summary |
SOA Evaluation Architecture (SEA) was sponsored by OPNAV N2/N6 as a test environment and assessment process to baseline SOA variables in DON operations. This OPNAV N816M World Class Modeling (WCM) research will build on the SEA studies to model SOA in DON distributed operations, to include: (a) Backbone nodes; (b) Network Operating Centers, (c) NOC in a Battle Group; (d) ships in a Strike Group; (e) small ships and ashore units. Models will address traditional network and server configurations and include SOA-specific composite modeling techniques. Variables will include satellite latency, jitter and packet loss, satellite-denied environments, communication outages, synchronization and security. Models will supplement the SEA test environment to provide an abstraction layer above SOA operations to help understand SOA behaviors in designated environmental contexts. |
