Summary | The objective of this proposal is to support Navy ASW training activities in the eastern Pacific by providing the basis on which mitigation measures may be developed. This effort focuses on two areas of research: (a) application of passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) methodologies to determine spatial and temporal variability in marine mammal distributions in regions of naval interest and (b) tuning, validating and providing uncertainty estimations for a sound exposure model to be used in support of the SOCAL Behavioral Response Study (BRS) for correlating variability in marine mammal distribution patterns in response to changes in sound exposure from both anthropogenic (including sonar) and natural environmental sources. |
