Sponsor | Department of Defense Space (DoD) |
Summary | The purpose of this effort is to evaluate the most promising approaches to sparse aperture synthesis using small satellites, to include an assessment of the technology readiness of the needed component technologies, to determine the expected performance characteristics and limitations, and to formulate notional design concepts for testing various aperture synthesis methods on-orbit. The scope of the effort is to perform the following three tasks: 1) Comparative evaluation of alternative optical sparse aperture concepts, 2) Evaluation of the technological readiness of alternative concepts, and 3) Notional design of on-orbit demonstration of various concepts using small satellites. Working with government, academic, and industry partners as appropriate, NPS will perform these tasks. |
