Summary NPS shall investigate Quality of Service (QoS) and monitoring metrics regarding the FLENUMMETOCCEN operations, including remote distributed computing, that allow identification and establishment of performance standards, measures, tools, and visualization with both leading and lagging metrics. Data mining of the FLENUMMETOCCEN operational logs, particularly the CDO and Computer Systems Watch Officer (CSWO) logs, can provide quantitative understanding of longer-term trends and patterns to enable proactive resource planning. A project to establish remote computing of global and regional meteorological models at the Navy Defense Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) is expected to join FLENUMMETOCCEN operations in FY14 and operational metrics must be established and tested. This can include identifying metrics such as: job start time; transfer time; latency; job completion time; job crashes; and identification of various bottlenecks and risk issues as applicable for the software and services that will support remote distributed computing. NPS shall provide centralized metrics collection and performance summary including assessments of operational risks.
