Summary | NPS will investigate adaptive optics control methods for compensation of strong atmospheric turbulence that are applicable for Navy and Air Force directed energy systems. The focus of the project is to investigate wavefront reconstruction methods that are sensitive to branch points produced by the laser beam propagating along the strong turbulence path. Branch point tolerant wavefront reconstruction algorithm will be provided to support the wavefront sensor comparison study at AFRL using the wave-optic computer simulations as well as laboratory tests with the Atmospheric Turbulence Simulator (ATS). The proposed work will also include the demonstration of the proposed method using the NPS optics testbed. |
