Summary | The goal of this research is to assist in the development of methods and schemes for fault protection of medium voltage direct current (MVDC) systems that are applicable to a variety of future naval shipboard power architectures. The research may include power conversion as well as high speed solid state breaker models that can be integrated into an architecture and design simulation environment for future exploration and comparison of different electrical distribution system tradeoffs in a total ship context in order to find optimum ship designs in terms of operational effectiveness metrics. |
