Summary | NPS will develop a sea-based tethered multi-copter platform leveraging low-cost, rapid prototyping techniques, open-market products and open-source software. The device should be water resistant and be capable of lifting payloads of reasonable size, weight and power (SWaP) to altitudes of up to 100m, and hold station or follow the base station at low to moderate speeds. The system will include a 600W ground power-supply unit (GPU), tether, and a hex-copter including power down-conversion electronics and controlled by the PixHawk autopilot. |
